Majesty: Northern Expansion App Reviews

Fun!

I rarely find games of this kind that keep me interested for more than 1 hour, but this game has kept me interested for the whole night now. Really fun and challengging game. Good job!

Okay

As many apps of this type, it doesnt take into account how small the screen of an iPhone is. The game is okay. Its unoriginal but fairly basic. Just an average game.

Ok

It has a pretty retro feel but the graphics can be rough on the eyes, especially the rain. The game is somewhat difficult to learn.

Not easy

Its hard to see with the smaller screen on top of that it is rather complicated to figure out even with a tutorial. There is a lot of room for improvement.

Majesty

I find this app very interesting. I like the game and the graphics and it is easy to keep entertained playing with it, totally addictive!

Great

Its a nice strategy game with a great gameplay, the graphics could be better. The story behind is quite interesting. Its a great app

Fun

Fun little medieval castle war game

Great app

I love apps with medieval themes like this one. The graphics are great, gameplay is fun. Very good app.

A once great kingdom ruined by greed...

I have played the PC versions of this series so I know first hand how this game should play and how it does not here. This verson of the game is heavily inbalanced, the units have been made far too weak from the PC version for the only reason I can assume, to drive players toward the IAP currency. This is a flawed port and it is intentional so in order to push revenue. Units fall like flies wearing paper armor; I know,, I have the PC version of these games still installed on my computer and went back to play them to see if perhaps I was just remembering wrong... I wasnt, you guys threw a monkeywrench under the hood of this game! If you have played this game before you will see right from the start the feel of the units and notice right a way that they are severely gimped from their original version, which makes for a game that is not very enjoyable when for all intents and purposes it should be! I loved this series and I was okay with the minor tweaks in the previous port. This however, is ridiculous! I understand a developer needs to make money, but dont do so to the point that you ruin the original games feel that you are porting! So disappointed in HeroCraft with this one...

Good game, but a few flaws.

I have played Majesty on the PC for several years. So when I saw this app I was ecstatic and bought it instantly. This app has mostly held up to my expectations, although there are a few things missing and changed (i.e. trading posts, a few temples, fairgrounds, goblins, wargs, health of friendly ai, etc.). I do hope they add some of those missing things in sometime soon, but all in all, this is worth the money.

Poorly-balanced IAP bait

Despite the name, this game is not at all like the original Majesty series. It has the same mechanics, but the intuitive and creative flexibility of the original version has been sucked out. Instead of giving the player the space to discover multiple options to victory, this developer has decided to pigeon-hole you into a single solution for each level. All of the units except for the warrior have been nerfed, and the monster spawn rate and difficulty has been jacked up to a point where it is impossible to win on even medium difficulty. The hero AI is terrible, which is saying a lot considering how stupid they can be in the original, and each one of my heroes is constantly swamped by monsters. Ive been a long-time fan of these games on the PC and ive played all the way through the original, even beating the super difficult final level. But the way this game is balanced, even an expert player like myself cannot manage the best rating on medium, much less beat hard. It is clear that this kind of balancing has been done on purpose to push you into buying their premium IAP currency for cheats and other crutches. I and other players have complained about this balance disaster on here and on the TouchArcade forums, where Herocraft has posted. However, they have conspicuously ignored every user complaint, even making posts to advertise the latest update but never replying to angry customers. With this most recent update, they did improve the difficulty curve, but only barely, with every unit except the warrior still a complete waste of money. That they did not even mention this in the changelog says a lot about what kind of company this is. If this is your kind of PR and customer service, then i want nothing to do with you. This is not the Majesty that filled my gamer youth with hundreds of hours of fun. You will not be getting my money again.

Its fun!

Idk what all these bad reviews are about. Its really fun and challenging to get your castle set up during some of the missions. I recommend it if you have the patience to play out a lvl that could take an hour or more. Oh and devs can there be buildings like bakeries and other stores for your heroes to buy stuff?

Get ready to want to throw your iDevice out the window!

This game is hard. I mean, really hard. The difficulty levels are silly, as even medium is almost too hard to play the game and win. If you turn it down (aside from the gamer guilt for playing on n00b) its so slow you could fall asleep. And why is it so hard? Because the AI is ridiculous. Heroes wander off while the city is mercilessly laid to waste, and get killed while theyre out (the game tells you by scrolling little messages in tiny tiny red print right about where your hand goes to hold the iPad. I dont even know how youd see it or know on the iPhone. Its a shame- its fun as a concept goes, it seems like it would be a fun game if you could get anywhere with it.

Maddeningly confusing interface

Tutorial level keeps popping up instruction which isnt actionable on that screen. Then, trying to find a level I can actually play, its not clear where to go-- but there is a random button you can click on that lets you buy something to be unlocked.

Amazing

I love this game I recommend everyone play it

Love the game

Wish there were more games of this nature. In the latest version is it a change that you suddenly loose gold without spending it? Or if monsters attack or something? Its hard enough to gather gold. The game really feels lately that its impossible to get a gold ribbon without using crystals. Charge me a little more for the initial game, but then stop trying to get in game money. Annoying.

Bad

Really bad game 1st 2 missions are fun and doable but the 3rd mission you will have to put it on weenie mode to pass it. I tried every tactic and still cant pass the 3rd one on normal mode I have to much pride to put it in weenie mode good luck and try to have fun

Majesty: The Northern Expansion

Awesome app. Fun to play.

crashes

I loved the first version - both the PC version and the IPad. I played through all the quests on the first version and purchased the NE maps before I finished them. I fired up the NE expansion and played through the tutorial and loaded the first version. It started to load. 75% of the way there it crashed. Tried again. crashed. After 5 more tries I gave up. I love the game and am very disappointed that it wont run. Hope they fix it.

Good, but needs a bug fix.

Whenever I play it, the bug gets worse and now it crashes as soon as I open it up.
